Vaughn Crandall is the executive director of the California Partnership for Safe Communities, where he oversees technical support for violence-reduction efforts, manages the policy agenda, and leads fundraising. From 2012 to 2020, Vaughn served as the lead advisor to the nationally recognized Oakland Ceasefire Partnership. Vaughn currently supports violence-reduction efforts in Mexico City, San Francisco, and Baltimore. Previously, he worked as a senior advisor to then-California Attorney General Kamala Harris’ Principled Policing Initiative, which developed cutting-edge procedural justice and implicit bias training for California police departments, in partnership with their communities. Among other roles, Vaughn also has served as Deputy Director of The Center for Crime Prevention and Control at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where he oversaw Center operations, helped design and implement violence-reduction initiatives in various U.S. cities, and helped to launch the National Network for Safe Communities.
