Rosenfeld passed away in January 2024. The Council honors his memory and his tremendous contributions to the criminal justice field, including his work as co-author of the ongoing series of CCJ crime trend reports begun early in the COVID-19 pandemic and his service as founding chair of the Crime Trends Working Group.
Rosenfeld was a nationally renowned criminologist whose research focused on crime trends and crime control policy. His many career highlights include serving as the criminologist in residence for the City of St. Louis Department of Public Safety and St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. He also served as a professor at Skidmore College, the chair of the National Academy of Sciences Roundtable on Understanding Crime Trends, and the president of the American Society of Criminology. Among his many other contributions to the criminal justice field, Rosenfeld authored or co-authored more than 100 scholarly articles and books, including the forthcoming Crime Dynamics: Why Crime Rates Change Over Time.
We have accomplished a lot together in our first five years, but we are just getting started. Will you support the Council as we build bridges across ideological divides and craft consensus for solutions?
