Lauritsen’ scholarship focuses on the causes and consequences of victimization, the social and historical contexts of crime and victimization, and quantitative research methodologies and data. Her research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the Bureau of Justice Statistics, and the National Institute of Justice. Lauritsen served as chair of the Panel on Modernizing the Nation’s Crime Statistics for the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American Society of Criminology (ASC), a former Co-Editor of its flagship journal Criminology, and a former ASC President, serving in 2022.
