Maki, Director of the Council’s Task Force on Long Sentences, has spent his career working to improve public safety outcomes as a non-profit executive, senior state governmental leader, and criminal justice policy expert. He served as Executive Director of Illinois’ public safety research and grant-making agency and led the state’s nonpartisan prison watchdog organization. Most recently, he served as Director of Innovations at the Alliance for Safety and Justice, where he partnered with community-based organizations and government leaders to design and implement criminal justice reforms and expand victim services.
We have accomplished a lot together in our first five years, but we are just getting started. Will you support the Council as we build bridges across ideological divides and craft consensus for solutions?
