    Bio: Clyde J. “Butch” Tate retired from the US Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps in January, 2014, where he last served as the 19th Deputy Judge Advocate General. General Tate is currently Chief Counsel for the National Association of Drug Court Professionals, the premier national resource for Drug Court practitioners and the leading national non-profit providing training and technical assistance to Veterans Treatment Courts. He is also a Senior Consultant for The Strategic Organization, a Kansas City firm supporting, among others, ArmyOne Source. He has recently been appointed as the Special Advisor for Military and Veteran Affairs to the President-Elect of the American Bar Association. Previously, General Tate served as the Associate General Counsel for Lockheed Martin Government Affairs.

    Bio 2: His pro bono activities include serving as Chair, ABA Standing Committee on Legal Assistance for Military Personnel (LAMP) and Co-chair, ABA Coordinating Committee on Veterans Benefit Services. He also serves on the KU Law School Board of Governors and the KU Alumni Association's Advisory Board on Veteran's Affairs. His military career included service as an Army liaison to Congress; director of the Army’s federal litigation and procurement fraud programs; ethics official; director of personnel; nearly a decade as legal advisor to special operations and airborne units; senior legal advisor for the Multinational Corps in Iraq; professor and later Commandant of the ABA-accredited US Army Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School; and Chief Judge of the Army’s Court of Criminal Appeals. With a proven commitment to diversity and inclusion, he was awarded the 2013 recipient of the prestigious Hispanic National Bar Association’s Presidential Award for leadership, advocacy and service.
