    Bio: Nora V. Demleitner is the Roy L. Steinheimer Jr. Professor at Washington and Lee University where she previously served as Dean of the law school. She has published over sixty articles in law reviews and peer-reviewed journals on criminal justice issues, immigration, higher education, and comparative law, and is the lead author of a major casebook on Sentencing Law and Policy. Much of her research focus is on sentencing and collateral sanctions, often with a comparison to European approaches. She also serves as editor of the Federal Sentencing Reporter. USA Today, The Hill, and the Washington Post have published her editorials.

    Bio 2: She taught at several law schools in the United States and in Europe. She served as a Baldy Senior Fellow at SUNY/Buffalo and a visiting researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law (Germany). In the Fall of 2021, she was a visiting professor at the University of Zürich. Professor Demleitner, who holds degrees from Bates College, Yale Law School, and the Georgetown University Law Center, is an elected member of the American Law Institute (ALI), the European Law Institute (ELI), the International Academy of Comparative Law, and a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. She is a member of the Prison Policy Initiative’s advisory board and sits on the board of the Collateral Consequences Resource Center.
