    Bio: Governor Ron DeSantis appointed London Kite to serve as a Duval County Court Judge on June 17, 2020. She is the third African American woman to be appointed to serve as a Duval County Court Judge. Before ascending to the County Court bench, Judge Kite dedicated her career to public service. Judge Kite was a prosecutor with the State Attorney’s Office of the Fourth Judicial Circuit for 17 years. Kite joined the State Attorney’s Office in August 2002. She worked her way up through the State Attorney’s Office ranks. Kite was promoted to Director of Attorney Development and Select Prosecutions. She was responsible for prosecuting complex murder cases, including cases involving multiple co-defendants, gang-related murders, and the death penalty. As an Assistant State Attorney, Kite has tried over 140 felony jury trials. Her homicide work was featured on Dateline NBC.

    Bio 2: While managing her homicide caseload, Kite also helped train Assistant State Attorneys to be successful in the courtroom. Kite received numerous awards for her trial work, including the State Attorney’s Office’s 2004 Rookie of the Year Award, the 2005 Jury Trial Award, and the Distinguished Service Award from State Attorney Melissa Nelson, in 2018.

    Bio 3: She graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1998. Before attending law school, Kite taught middle school Exceptional Education Students. Kite graduated from the University of Florida, Levin School of Law in 2002 From 2006 to 2010, she served as an adjunct professor for Florida Coastal School of Law, where she taught young lawyers case management, trial preparation, and trial practice skills. Kite was the vice-president of the Florida Coastal School of Law Foundation. Currently, she is a Master member of the Chester Bedell Inn of Courts and a Group Chair for the Inn.

    Bio 4: On a personal note, Judge Kite is married to Glenn, her husband of 12 years, and they have a ten-year-old son. The Kites all enjoy outdoor activities such as boating, fishing, and skiing.
