Director (ret.), Montana Department of Corrections
Reginald Michael served as the director of the Montana Department of Corrections from 2017 to 2021, where he provided executive leadership and oversight over the state’s prison, parole, and probation systems. Previously, he served as Chief U.S. Probation Officer for the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida. In 2016, he was recognized for excellence in judicial service with the prestigious Director’s Award from the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts.
Earlier in his career, Michael served as Deputy Chief U.S. Probation Officer with the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada, and also as a manager with the Probation and Pretrial Services Office at the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts in Washington DC. Prior to his service in the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, he was a United States Probation Officer in the Southern District of New York. He retired after 35 years in the federal and state corrections systems.
