Priya Sarathy Jones is the co-executive director of the Fines and Fees Justice Center (FFJC), where she helps lead national efforts to reform and eliminate the harmful impacts of fines and fees in the U.S. She oversees FFJC’s Advocacy and Campaigns Division, driving state and local legislative initiatives and supporting communities and governments in advancing meaningful policy change. Sarathy Jones joined FFJC in 2019, later serving as deputy executive director before stepping into her current role.
Before FFJC, Sarathy Jones spent nearly a decade at the U.S. Department of Justice, shaping policy on fines and fees, wrongful convictions, tribal justice, and law enforcement. She also served as senior counsel for the House Oversight Committee and led award-winning federal initiatives supporting courts, law enforcement, and community-based reforms.
A leading voice on fines and fees reform, Sarathy Jones helped launch DOJ’s first “Price of Justice” program and served on the nation’s first task force on these issues. In 2023, she was appointed to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Advisory Committee on Transportation Equity, advising on civil rights and equity in transportation. She is a frequent speaker and commentator on racial, economic, and criminal justice issues.
Sarathy Jones holds a JD and BA in psychology and criminal justice from the University of South Carolina and is a member of the North Carolina State Bar. She lives in Washington, D.C., with her husband and two children.
