Colonel Jeffrey D. Glover was appointed as director of the Arizona Department of Public Safety on January 17, 2023. Colonel Glover began his career with the Tempe Police Department in October of 1999. He worked his way through the ranks, serving in the Tempe Police Department in a variety of capacities and was appointed as chief of police in August 2021.
Colonel Glover previously served as the president of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE). He is a member of the board of directors for the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). In 2025, he received the NAACP’s Arizona State Conference Outstanding Leadership Award and in 2024, he was inducted into the National Forum of Black Public Administrators Hall of Fame.
He is a national board member for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and is the co-chair of the MADD Traffic Safety Committee. Colonel Glover also serves on the International Association of Chief’s of Police (IACP) Crime Prevention Committee.
