Ja’Ron Smith is a partner at CGCN, an integrated advocacy and strategic communications firm that specializes in public affairs. Smith was previously a partner at Dentons Global Advisors, a business management consulting company in Washington, D.C.. Smith advises clients on regulatory affairs, economic mobility, social justice, finance, banking, and housing and urban development. He is also a Senior Fellow at Right on Crime, a data-driven reform initiative focused on increasing support for conservative U.S. criminal justice reform ideas.
Smith served as a Deputy Assistant to the President for the White House Domestic Policy Council and the Office of American Innovation. In this role, Smith was dedicated to criminal justice reform initiatives and was recognized as the highest-ranking African-American leader in the Trump Administration. Additionally, he was recognized for being a key architect on the Bipartisan First Step Act and was awarded the 20/20 Bipartisan Justice Award.
Prior to his time in the White House, Mr. Smith served in senior staff roles on the House Financial Services Committee and for Senator Tim Scott (R-SC).
