Abby Walsh

Vice President, Strategy and Operations

Abby Walsh manages strategy and operations at the Council, which she co-launched in 2019 with President and CEO Adam Gelb. She leads the organization’s strategic planning, internal operations, and policy development efforts, ensuring that CCJ stays focused, aligned, and effective in advancing its mission. She has served as senior adviser on multiple key initiatives, including the National Commission on COVID-19 and Criminal Justice and the Women’s Justice Commission.

Walsh has spent two decades working in criminal justice policy, nonprofit leadership, and systems change. Prior to CCJ, she led policy initiatives and reform campaigns to reduce incarceration, strengthen public safety, and increase government accountability. Her work has consistently centered on driving meaningful change through cross-sector collaboration and data-informed decision-making.

Walsh holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in public affairs from American University and a Master of Public Administration from George Washington University. She lives in Washington, DC.
